MAIL ART POSTCARDS FOR QUILTER FRIENDS

I love making fiber postcards and sending them through the mail. The comments from some of the postal workers are wonderful. I invite all them to my sewing studio for a quick class. These were made for some "sewing sisters."

PostCards In The Mail

 I create little pieces of art that I make into postcards. They are 4X6 and I send them through the mail to friends and family.

 The giraffe was sent to my 2 year old grand daughter Rylan to remind her that Grandma Dede is thinking of her.

 The floral was made for a postcard swap in a group called PostCardMailArt. Its in yahoo and anyone can join. It was made with rice size pieces of fabric placed on the batting then a fine tole was put on top of that. Then I freemotioned the heck out of it to keep it from falling apart! Its called "If you can squint, you can see my garden."

I loved working on my moon series. Landscapes are my favorites. These were sent to Three Sisters, Oregon to be donated for the auction to raise money for breast cancer research. I hope they brought in a few dollars. 

GARDEN PARTY POSTCARDS

My yahoo postcard group had a swap called "Crazy Flowers." I am so ready for flowers in my yard. As I was working on these, I ran across the bag of google eyes. I couldn't help it... I HAD to add them.

Sense of Touch

PostCardMailArt is a fiber postcard group
on yahoo. I love this group. It gets my
creative juices moving. We make tons
of our little pieces of art that we mail all
around the world. Its like having a pen pen or
swapping my postcard for yours like my brothers
did with their beloved baseball cards.

Usually the swaps have a criteria or theme.
This particular swap is call "A Sense of Touch."
The criteria was about surface design. The swaps
I enjoy the most are the ones that lots of different
fibers are incorporated.

PostCard Challenge Workshop

My PostCard Swap Group had a challenge.We each sent a envelope with different fibers and beads for the
participant to make a card. You had no idea what was coming : that was the Challenge! Here's what I made
with the wonderful stuff Nancy G. sent me. Nancy sent me 23 different fibers and beads and hair and tinsel that
all had to fit on a 4"X6" postcard.

BLACK & WHITE POSTCARDS

My postcard group, PostCardMailArt, was having a black&white challenge. I had never attempted a landscape in b&w and thought it would be fun to merge all the shades and see what I could come up with. I am very pleased with myself. I think they came out beautiful. What you think?

Next I tried creating a
few magnolias. I love the smell of the magnolia tree.

Fabric PostCards -NO SEWING MACHINES ALLOWED!

Sometimes I just have to push my Janome back and turn her off. I NEED to do some handwork. There is just something about putting on my "cheater" glasses, threading the needle, pushing the needle into fabric and getting into that rhythm of stitching. All you applique people know exactly what I'm talking about?!

I WANT SPRING!

I can hardly wait for Spring to get here. I am not a winter person.
I love making flower art and thread painting fits it perfectly. Thread painting is a must for me. I don't think my postcards are quite done until I get free motion of some kind on it. Coneflowers are a favorite of mine, both in my garden outside and my flower garden on the wall of my Green Door Studio.
